The Spring Racing Carnival is also highlighted by 50 days of frocks, suits, hats and of course Fashions on the Field. Fashion has become its own colourful sport during the Spring Racing Carnival, with racegoers competing to make a good impression and of course share in the amazing prize pools offered by race clubs across Victoria.

Fashions on the Field

Fashions on the field titles can be as hotly contested as the racing. Here's what lies ahead.

Country's Best Dressed Racegoer

Each year over 30 country racing clubs host their own Fashions on the Field competitions. Due to its overwhelming success in the past two years, Country's Best Dressed Racegoer , will take place once again this year! The winner from each country racing club's Fashions on the Field will become a finalist to be crowned Country's Best Dressed Racegoer for 2009.

The good news is the general public decides who takes home this honour by voting online for their favourite finalist. The person with the most votes wins! There will be a grand prize for the winner along with a prize for random voters each week during the 50 day Carnival. For more information visit County's Best Dressed Racegoer

Flemington

With amazing prizes on offer, updated categories to enter and a brand new look, this year's MYER Fashions on the Field national event is sure to turn heads. For the first time, this year the event will be travelling to Tasmania to select a winner to represent the state of the Apple Isle. Of course the event will go to New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Victoria as well. For more information go to Myer Fashions on the Field.

To avoid disappointment, we recommend pre-registering for all sections of Fashions on the Field. To do this, visit Myer Fashions on the Field and follow the prompts or call Customer Service on 1300 727 575.

Caulfield

This year, the Caulfield Spring Racing Carnival is taking fashion to another level. Incorporating three major elements to the race days; The Classic.Style.Award is aimed at designers and fashion professionals, the Face of Caulfield competition along with the traditional Chadstone Fashion Stakes offer a prize pool valued at over $150,000 including luxury holidays, stylish Longines watches, prize money and lots more. LOOKING FOR LABELS

Where better to find a new outfit than in Melbourne, one of the world's greatest fashion and shopping cities. Explore Melbourne's historic arcades and laneways, where local designers have opened their doors. Head to Little Collins Street and Flinders Lane for great threads, jewellery, fancy footwear and accessories. For international labels, head to the ‘Paris end' of Collins Street, the Southgate and Crown Entertainment Complex, Albert Coates Lane or GPO in Elizabeth Street.

FRESH FLOWER FASHION ACCESSORIES

Dress your hair with fresh flowers, wear them on a beautiful hat or choose a perfect single bloom for your lapel. Ten race days each have their own official flower of the day.

The yellow rose of the Emirates Melbourne Cup is undoubtedly the best known, but 10 race days of the Spring Racing Carnival each have an official signature flower. You could plan your racewear around the pink rose of Crown Oaks Day or the white rose at BMW Caulfield Cup Day, or choose a shirt and tie specially to tone with the tiny Ceil Brunner rose of Tatts Cox Plate Day.

Find the latest floral accessories at your closest professional florist.

CONVENIENT SHOPPING

For familiar labels go to Myer and at Chadstone Shopping Centre or Bourke Street in the CBD. GPO Melbourne has three levels of boutiques selling Australian and international designer labels, and at Melbourne Central you will find over 300 shops.

South of the CBD, Chapel Street is known for its hip fashion, and bargain hunters head to factory-outlet shops in Richmond.
